WE ARE YAQUI ANIMAL RESCUE

We are a non-profit, no-kill animal rescue located on our 80-acre ranch in Sullivan City, Texas, near the border of Mexico. We have over 250 animals in our care including cats, dogs, horses, cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, and turtles.

Our goals and passion are rescuing and caring for those that otherwise could not care for themselves. Finding a loving home for all of our four-legged friends is what keeps us moving forward.

OUR MISSION & VISION

Mission: To rescue, rehabilitate, vet, and find forever homes for as many animals as possible in the Rio Grande Valley.

Vision: To one day provide spay and neuter services to all animals in need and to increase adoptions.

THE STRAY PROJECT

Did you know there are approximately 70 million abandoned animals in the United States? Most abandoned animals are living on the streets without access to food, water, and shelter. Millions of stray animals reside on the border of Mexico, where we are located. South Texas is home to one of the highest stray populations in the nation.

To combat the overpopulation problem, we created The Stray Project. The Stray Project provides free spay/neuter and vaccination services to stray animals through a trap-neuter-release process. The project also helps local low-income families sterilize their pets. Since the start of the project in 2019, we have helped hundreds of local pet owners. This project has prevented thousands of unwanted litters from being born.

We host a free clinic each month or when funding is available. The Stray Project is not easy to fund in addition to maintaining our 80-acre rescue. However, we continue to host spay and neuter clinics because we know the stray overpopulation problem with continue to get worse.

Donations, big or small, help us tackle the problem and support local pet owners. Please help us help these innocent animals.
